Bergenhus Fortress:
One of the best preserves defenses in the country, Bergenhus Fortress or Bergenhus Festning in Norway, is a must-visit historical place during your visit to Norway. It was built by King Hakon Hakonsson as a royal residence in the years between 1247 and 1261. Moreover, the fortress is situated on the northern side of the entrance to the harbor of Bergen. It is famous as a royal residence, military seat of power, and Bishop’s office. In addition, it is one of the oldest and best-preserved fortresses in Norway.

Weather:
Bergen’s weather remains quite pleasant in summer. In June and July, it goes from 12 to 18 degrees Celsius, and in winter the weather becomes a little cold it can go 5 degrees and the least is 1 degree. Bergen weather is very charming.
Pros and cons I noticed while visiting Norway:
Pros:
- You don’t have to learn the Norwegian language to visit Norway, because English is widely spoken in Norway.
- Norway has Fjords, lakes, mountains, forests, and plateaus.
- The mountains and lakes are filled with glaciers, leaving traces in the fjords on the North and West coasts.
- Norway offers many opportunities for outdoor activities like camping, walks\hikes, cycling, fishing, campfires, and many other options.
- Norway also has Northern lights in winter. You can have a whole different experience.
- Nature is painted with a million shades of color and the city hosts World class art and culture.
Cons:
- Norway can experience natural disasters like flooding, extreme weather conditions, landslides, wildfires, and avalanches.
- Above all, heavy rains in the spring and summer can cause floods and landslides which can damage infrastructure and make roads impassable.
- Norway can be expensive. The food and room rents are high.
- Don’t visit Norway’s wilderness without listening to advice from locals.
- Norway isn’t a part of the European Union. You cannot use Euros in Norway. It only has Norwegian Krone.
